About The Position

The Mechanic I is responsible for providing repair services on assigned airframe/aeronautical components and performing approved repairs. The ability to produce quality work in non-negotiable deadlines is part of this position.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum two years of Aircraft Mechanic experience.
  • A working knowledge of aircraft systems and of the use of common aircraft hand tools and special tools is required.
  • Thorough understanding of Company processes and operations.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Demonstrate professionalism through appropriate communication and behavior.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a high-paced and rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to judge and make decisions quickly & accurately.
  • Flexibility, ability to learn new concepts quickly.
  • Knowledge of technical documents such as technical bulletins, alert service bulletins, etc.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • A&P Preferred.

  • Completion of specialized courses is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Uses schematic diagrams, drawings, charts and technical publication in operating, testing, removing, troubleshooting, and replacing aircraft system components.
  • Complies with the requirements of the FOD prevention, housekeeping, tool control, environmental and safety programs.
  • Adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories, performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections, performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing crankcase, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes.
  • Troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems.
  • Performs the jacking and towing of aircraft, enters in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verifies the work was performed satisfactorily.
  • May service engines and airframe components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul, required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition.
  • May specialize in work, repair and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies, and may specialize in engine repair.
  • Performs aircraft conditional inspections including, but not limited to, 100-hour, progressive, isochronal, phase, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections.
  • Examines reciprocating engines for cracked cylinders and oil leaks, and listens to operating engine to detect and diagnose malfunctions, such as sticking or burnt valves.
  • Performs all required aircraft servicing tasks.
  • Operates and inspects ground support equipment and documents/reports discrepancies prior to use.
  • Performs all tasks associated with ground movement of aircraft.
  • Orders parts and supplies as needed.
  • Follows technical data, manuals, regulations, company policy, and other maintenance directives as required.
  • Identifies and documents aircraft discrepancies on appropriate forms.
  • Participates in towing and movement of aircraft in performing maintenance activities.
  • Removes, installs, opens, closes, aircraft equipment and panels as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
