The Aircraft Mechanic 1 will perform daily scheduled and unscheduled maintenance to comply with aircraft mission requirements. This role involves repairing, replacing, and rebuilding aircraft structures and functional components using various tools and equipment. Key duties include interpreting manufacturers' and maintenance manuals, performing various hourly or calendar inspections, examining and inspecting engines and components for defects, and testing engine operation to diagnose malfunctions. The mechanic will also be responsible for replacing or repairing damaged components, removing and reinstalling engines, adjusting electrical systems, and conducting preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections. Servicing aircraft, supervising and participating in jacking and towing, and maintaining accurate maintenance records are also part of the job. Additional responsibilities include maintaining shop cleanliness, participating in the FOD program, obtaining specific qualifications like Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) and Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative (CDQAR) for Powerplant (AD), ensuring safety compliance, handling Hazmat, and potentially qualifying for Fuel Surveillance, Confined Space Programs, and as a Plane Captain. The position requires working all shifts on-site and adhering to all PWS requirements.
