About The Position

The Aircraft Mechanic I position at M1 Support Services involves performing maintenance and repair tasks on aircraft, ensuring their safety and functionality. The role requires troubleshooting various aircraft systems, conducting inspections, and executing repairs using specialized tools and equipment. The mechanic will work in a fast-paced environment, often under tight deadlines, and must maintain a professional demeanor while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Minimum 5 years performing aircraft maintenance functions in a military environment and attainment of a US Air Force 5 level (or equivalent) is required.
  • Minimum three years aircraft maintenance experience on fighter aircraft.
  • Working knowledge of principles applying to aircraft systems and maintenance directives is mandatory.
  • Knowledge of USAF supply and efficiency reporting procedures is mandatory.
  • Knowledge of the proper handling, use, and disposal of hazardous waste and materials is mandatory.
  • Must speak, read, write, and understand English.
  • Must be able to work days, nights or weekends, as required.
  • Must have a working knowledge of computers and basic software programs such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, SharePoint, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain the security clearance level as mandated by the government customer.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with F-117A aircraft maintenance is preferred.
  • Additional certifications related to aircraft maintenance are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems.
  • Repairs, replaces and rebuilds aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units.
  • Reads and interprets manufacturers and airlines maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications.
  • Performs various inspections including 100-hour, progressive, isochronal, phase, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections.
  • Examines reciprocating engines for cracked cylinders and oil leaks, and listens to operating engine to detect and diagnose malfunctions.
  • Inspects jet engine turbine blades to detect cracks, distortion, corrosion, burn-out, security or breaks.
  • Tests engine operation using testing equipment to locate source of malfunction.
  • Replaces or repairs worn or damaged components such as carburetors, alternators, and fuel pumps.
  • Adjusts, repairs or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories, performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections.
  • Supervises the jacking and towing of aircraft, enters maintenance records, and verifies work performed satisfactorily.
