About The Position

The Aircraft Mechanic I inspects, troubleshoots malfunctions, rigs, repairs, and modifies aircraft structures, structural components, and aircraft systems of moderate difficulty. The role involves maintaining and repairing aircraft components including but not limited to landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, ventilation, heating and cooling systems, and mechanical components. The mechanic applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and operation. This position requires reading and interpreting manufacturers' and airlines’ maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine the feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. The work shift may require the selected candidate to work the first, second, or third shift as required.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical components.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, adjust, repair, and replace parts/components.
  • Broad working knowledge of C-130J/H aircraft systems including hydraulics, structures, engines, and electrical systems.
  • Experience performing periodic and special inspections.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical theory and aircraft unique tools.
  • Proficient with USAF Technical Orders and Data Transfer and Diagnostic System (DTADS).
  • Experience with aircraft launch/recovery and performing preflight and post-flight inspections.
  • Familiarity with handling HAZMAT/HAZWASTE materials.

Nice To Haves

  • Six years of experience on C-130 aircraft as a 2ASX1.
  • Performed as 7-Level Aircraft Mechanic or equivalent.
  • Advanced Systems School Basic C-130J aircraft system knowledge.
  • Ability and desire to perform on aircraft engine runs.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, rig, repair, and modify aircraft structures and systems.
  • Maintain and repair aircraft components including landing gear, flight surfaces, engines, and hydraulic systems.
  • Apply technical knowledge to determine equipment malfunctions and restore equipment condition.
  • Read and interpret maintenance manuals and technical data.
  • Perform periodic and special inspections on aircraft.
  • Document maintenance activities using AFTO 781 forms and IMDS.
