About The Position

The Aircraft Mechanic I (UH-60/AH-64 Mechanic Specialty) is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing various aircraft systems and components, ensuring the safety and functionality of military helicopters. This role involves performing inspections, maintenance, and repairs on aircraft structures, engines, and electrical systems, utilizing a range of tools and equipment. The mechanic will also interpret technical manuals and documentation to guide their work and may supervise the maintenance process.

Requirements

  • Three years of aviation maintenance experience.
  • Two years of rotary wing aircraft experience.
  • Two years of experience on the assigned Mission Design Series (MDS).
  • Knowledge of equipment related to UH-60/AH-64.
  • Ability to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, crouch, and work in tiring positions.
  • Valid driver's license and high school diploma or GED equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • A valid up-to-date A&P license is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of military publications, drawings, blueprints, and schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces, and controls.
  • Repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft structures and functional components using hand tools and power tools.
  • Read and interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and technical data to determine repair methods.
  • Perform various inspections including 100-hour, progressive, isochronal, and phase inspections on aircraft.
  • Examine engines for malfunctions and perform tests using specialized testing equipment.
  • Replace or repair worn or damaged components such as carburetors and alternators.
  • Remove and disassemble engines for inspection and repair, then reassemble and install them back into aircraft.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace electrical wiring systems and aircraft accessories.
  • Perform preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections.
  • Supervise the jacking and towing of aircraft and maintain accurate maintenance records.
