About The Position

This position is part of Lockheed Martin's historic Skunk Works program, focusing on advanced systems development and flight testing of various aircraft and vehicles. The role involves managing a team of non-exempt employees, overseeing flight test operations, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate will lead maintenance and operational checkouts, coordinate flight test programs, and develop new manufacturing technologies.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a flight test environment (flight test, avionics, system checkout, metallic and composite assemblies).
  • Active aircraft flight line experience.
  • Prior leadership/management experience in a Flight Operations environment.
  • Experience in planning projects, developing manpower plans, and tracking execution (EVMS) for manufacturing efforts.
  • Must have Top Secret Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience interpreting blueprints, manufacturing procedures, and engineering orders.
  • Flight Test of air vehicles, both manned and unmanned.
  • Experience clearing aircraft for release for flight.
  • Understanding of materials and hardware properties.
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Job estimating and design for manufacturing review experience.
  • Current knowledge of new manufacturing processes and technologies.
  • Prototyping Manufacturing Experience.
  • Ability to determine priorities of scheduled and drop-in work.
  • LM21 certified (green/black belt).
  • Familiarity with manufacturing execution systems (SFM, ERP4C, etc.).
  • Technical Degree (IE, ME, AE, etc.).
  • Experience supervising hourly employees.
  • Previously held Air Force 7vl or Navy/USMC MOS equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the maintenance team for flight testing various ADP designed vehicles.
  • Provide estimates for proposal purposes and execute flight tests of aircraft, components, and vehicles.
  • Work from blueprints, drawings, or verbal instructions using math and basic computer skills.
  • Assign work, provide technical interpretations, and ensure compliance with flight test and manufacturing policies.
  • Coordinate ranges, test start-ups, shutdowns, and changeovers.
  • Plan and coordinate internal and external flight test programs within ADP Special Projects, adhering to project schedules and budgets.
  • Monitor and verify cost and quality in accordance with program requirements.
  • Develop new manufacturing technologies supporting future platforms.
  • Lead a team responsible for flight test operations and system maintenance.
  • Ensure a safe work environment and address unsafe conditions promptly.
