About The Position

Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity available on the Space Launch System (SLS) team for an Aerospace Aircraft Machinist to support our operations in New Orleans, LA. Position Responsibilities: Works with technical counterparts and others to develop solutions to complex out of sequence emergent production machining challenges. Develops and revises Machine Control Data (MCD) and geometry. Performs validation/verification testing of systems and components Assists in defining methods of operations and sequences to meet company and customer objectives. Interprets high level requirements to successfully complete complex non-routine, machining operations. Mentors other machinists in resolving issues and completing job responsibilities. Ability to work any shift This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Requirements

  • Ability to work any shift, overtime, weekends
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment
  • Experience utilizing and following detailed work instructions, electrical schematics, and reading and interpreting detailed blueprints or drawings
  • Able to use precision measuring instruments
  • 5 or more years of experience using manual machining equipment; mill, lathe machines, drill press etc.
  • 5 or more years of experience setting up fixtures, operating, and programming CNC machines
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to support frequent standing, walking, lifting, and working at heights with or without equipment assistance
  • Ability to work on uneven terrain
  • Experience leading/training other employees
  • This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility.
  • This is a NASA safety-sensitive position and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
  • This position must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
