About The Position

The Boeing Global Services (BGS) Engineering team is seeking an Aircraft Environmental Control Systems (ECS) Design & Analysis Engineer (Associate or Experienced) to join their team in Long Beach, CA. This role involves creating and implementing innovative technologies for aerospace, providing engineering design and support, including aftermarket modifications, and enhancing product and services safety. The successful candidate will apply engineering principles in design, analysis, and certification, contributing to the growth of the modifications sector. As part of the ECS team, the engineer will work on components and systems directly affecting airline passenger safety and support modifications for in-service Boeing Commercial Airplane models. The position offers access to Boeing's enterprise expertise and resources while operating within the flexible and fast-paced environment of a small company setting. The teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Associate or Experienced Aircraft Environmental Control Systems Design & Analysis Engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering
  • 2+ years of relevant systems engineering experience
  • Successful candidates for this job must satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process
  • This position must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplined Systems Engineering environment
  • Knowledge of Boeing design, certification, and engineering principles
  • Ability to work with multiple team functions
  • Experience with engineering disciplines related to aircraft Environmental Control Systems analysis, including compressible/incompressible fluid mechanics, heat transfer, thermodynamics, physical chemistry, systems engineering, and/or computational fluid dynamics

Responsibilities

  • Supports development and documentation of aircraft Environmental Control System analysis and architecture (air conditioning, air distribution, cabin pressure control, equipment cooling, cargo fire protection, nitrogen generating system, ice/rain protection, etc.)
  • Assesses complex system events to determine potential safety issues, utilizing airplane function integration at the system and component level
  • Contributes to development of hardware, software, system performance requirements, part kit definition, analytical methods, and certification of various airplane system installations new and existing
  • Works directly with airline customers and multiple, cross-functional teams to ensure effective system integration and customer satisfaction
