About The Position

The Engineering Intern will work under the guidance of an experienced engineer to support the full life cycle of the Kodiak aircraft by solving problems, improving processes, and contributing to system and product development. This role offers hands-on experience applying standard engineering practices, using CAD and computer‑aided tools, developing designs with Lean and DFM principles, and collecting and analyzing data to identify trends and discrepancies. The intern will collaborate closely with engineers across multiple disciplines to brainstorm solutions, enhance manufacturing processes, and assist with technical documentation, certification plans, and FAA submissions. They will also create and maintain reports, spreadsheets, and presentations while gaining exposure to various engineering functions through job shadowing in design, manufacturing, and tooling. Requirements

  • Must have high school diploma and be enrolled in an accredited university/college program electrical and mechanical engineers preferred
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel); familiar with Drafting standards and Computer Aided Design (CAD)
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Capable of accepting and applying constructive feedback on personal performance as part of a team
  • Self-directed and able to work independently, demonstrating creativity and initiative, energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas

Responsibilities

  • Solve problems and make improvements in support of the total life cycle of Kodiak aircraft
  • Apply standard practices and techniques to assigned projects
  • Confer with engineers and others to brainstorm and discuss projects, challenges, products, and manufacturing processes
  • Design, implement, document, and improve systems, products, and manufacturing processes
  • Develop, document, and integrate systems engineering principles, lean manufacturing techniques, and standard operating procedure into the engineering culture
  • Develop designs using Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Utilize computer-aided engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks
  • Collect and correlate data, recognizing discrepancies in results, and identifying data trends
  • Perform specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer, using prescribed methods
  • Assist in preparing technical and certification plans and reports; prepare documents and correspondence for the FAA Certification Office; prepare and present certification data to the FAA
  • Create and maintain PowerPoint presentations, Excel spreadsheets, and Word reports
  • Shadow multiple engineering positions and train in a variety of tasks (design engineering, manufacturing engineering, tooling engineering)
