Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED plus 4+ years of hands-on experience in aircraft electrical system installation and modification
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical/electronic theory and system troubleshooting
  • Experience in wire bundle fabrication, routing, and installation on aircraft (commercial routing preferred)
  • Proficiency in interpreting technical documentation such as work instructions, schematics, and blueprints
  • Ability to work rotating shifts (1st, 2nd, or 3rd), including weekends and overtime as required
  • Ascend/descend vertical ladders; work in confined spaces; lift up to 35 lbs regularly
  • Use of PPE (face, eye, ear, hand, arm protection)
  • Pass visual acuity and color perception tests
  • Frequent standing, walking, reaching overhead, and balancing on ladders or uneven surfaces
  • Occasional climbing (3–12 ft), squatting, crawling, bending/stooping, and two-person lifts
  • Exposure to noise, metals, and elevated work platforms
  • Operate foot controls and remain in various postures for extended periods
  • Must pass required training assessments and maintain all certifications

  • Experience with Depot-Level or Modification Maintenance
  • Ability to operate forklifts, mobile cranes, and elevating work platforms

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical modifications on and off aircraft, including installation, repair, and testing of wiring and electrical system components
  • Execute complex connector terminations (shielded wires, coaxial cables, fiber optics)
  • Fabricate, route, and install wire bundles on aircraft, including those with no existing wiring
  • Conduct sealing, wrapping, bonding, tying, and closure of harnesses to standard aerospace practices
  • Interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, blueprints, and wiring diagrams to guide electrical work
  • Perform troubleshooting and operational testing of electrical/environmental systems and comm/nav systems
  • Support flight line and bench testing in accordance with DoD and OEM directives
  • Conduct quality and operational checks and document findings according to company and government procedures
  • Operate precision measuring instruments and ensure all work meets quality standards
  • Follow SA Tool and FOD procedures, hazardous energy protocols, and hazmat handling regulations
  • Maintain certifications, licenses, and permits required for role compliance
  • Mentor and assist junior team members; may lead teams on complex tasks
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., General Mechanics, Structures, Avionics) to meet schedule/cost objectives
