The Aircraft Electrician coordinates with project engineers throughout projects for technical support. The Electrical Aircraft Technician will perform maintenance and modifications on assigned aircraft using electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and other test support equipment. This role involves operationally checking all systems, sub-systems, and associated line replaceable unit (LRU) removal and installation. The technician interprets and advises on maintenance procedures and policies to repair aircraft and related equipment. Additionally, the technician installs units, parts, equipment, and components in avionics assembly according to blueprints and specifications provided. They also fabricate and assemble prototype equipment for a variety of military aircraft and are familiar with military technical manuals, technical orders, modification work orders, and blueprints. The technician coordinates with project engineer personnel throughout the project and provides technical assistance to project engineers. They service, repair, and overhaul aircraft to ensure airworthiness, and repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft components, such as wiring harnesses, power distribution systems, and functional components including communication/navigation systems and flight control/aircraft monitoring systems using hand tools, power tools, machines, equipment, soldering irons, and connector installation tools. The technician reads and interprets maintenance manuals, technical manuals, FAA FAR’s, and commercial aircraft manuals, installs units, parts, equipment, and components in structural assembly according to blueprints and specifications, using hand tools and power tools. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
