Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 0-5 years of experience as a composite technician for Journeyman level.
  • 5+ years of experience as a composite technician for Master level.
  • Self-motivated and able to perform in a fast-paced environment.
  • Reliable transportation to get to work each day.
  • Ability to perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
  • Ability to follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.
  • Maintain customer-oriented work habits.

Nice To Haves

  • Airframe and Powerplant License is not required, but welcome.
  • A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Repairs parts/components by means of 'Wet Layup' and 'Prepreg'.
  • Facilitates some repairs using a clean room and cures by means of an autoclave or controlled oven.
  • Utilizes various composite bonding methods in repair including Co-curing, Co-bonding, secondary bonding, and metal bonding.
  • Uses close tolerance measuring tools (i.e., scales, micrometers, calipers, depth gages, etc.).
  • Uses hand tools (i.e., drill motors, die grinders, rivet guns, fastener installation tools, etc.).
  • Performs alignment/assembly using jigs, templates, and fixtures.
  • Uses PPE when cutting, grinding, blending, and sanding.
  • Extensively uses bagging materials and bags for a wide range of component shapes and styles.
  • Uses a 'Hot-Bonder' type machine cure procedure.
  • Maintains, cleans, and repairs shop facilities, equipment, and tooling when required.
  • Safely operates shop equipment such as curing oven, autoclave, and vacuum.
  • Navigates electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases.
  • Communicates effectively and clearly in English.
  • Performs any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
