About The Position

Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is looking for Experienced Aircraft Assembler Seal/Wing Tank Mechanics (Level B or C) to assist with multiple areas of the 787 production system in North Charleston, South Carolina on a variable shift! This role offers an exciting opportunity within a dynamic manufacturing assembly environment. Team members will leverage their prior experience, and the knowledge gained from training and certifications to complete daily assigned tasks effectively. Individuals will be responsible for identifying their work locations on advanced airplanes, parts, and tooling by interpreting intricate drawings to accurately complete detailed work instructions. Attention to detail and procedure compliance is critical to identify all necessary hand tools, parts, and equipment required to ensure defect-free work. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at North Charleston, SC (BSC).

Requirements

  • Ability to work a variable shift.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to qualify and use a respirator.
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the role such as: flexion and extension (head bent down, head bent back), handling, kneeling, bending at the waist, reaching overhead, rotation of head/neck, standing, twisting at the waist and walking, climbing/balancing (stairs, ladders, poles, scaffolding, inclined surfaces), crawling, crouching (squatting).
  • Ability to carry/lift up to 10-35 pounds.
  • Ability to work with High Hazard Chemicals.
  • 6+ months experience using software applications for internet navigation, email, Microsoft Suite and/or other specialized computer applications.
  • 6+ months experience utilizing and following detailed work instructions, reading, and interpreting blueprints, drawings, or specifications, in English.
  • 6+ months experience in a technical or mechanical field performing work with basic hand, power and/or pneumatic (air) tools.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1+ years of experience applying sealant to required surfaces per specifications.
  • 1+ years of experience reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, material processes, schematic and diagrams in aviation.
  • 1+ years of experience installing various aircraft system components such as tubing, valves, regulators, actuators, compressors, and ducts in aviation.

Responsibilities

  • Must have the ability to complete the New Hire Training Cycle Flow to obtain and maintain all required certifications.
  • Ability to adhere to high standards of safety and quality.
  • Comply with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Boeing Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
  • Ensure your work conforms to engineering drawings and specifications, has First Pass Quality (FPQ) and is free from Foreign Object Debris.
  • Use computers and software applications in a production environment.
  • Look up/read/comprehend technical work instructions, drawings and/or specifications.
  • Wear appropriate protective clothing/equipment determined by the task you are performing.
  • Operate mechanical lifts of various types (e.g. ladders, tiger and aerial lifts).
  • Use various hand tools.
  • Climbing/balancing (stairs, ladders, poles, scaffolding, inclined surfaces), Crawling, Crouching (squatting), Working around energized sources (electrical equipment and hazards/shock, e.g. circuit breakers and wiring) and exposure to constant noise.
  • Finger manipulation (keyboarding, other).
  • Reading from a computer screen, printed drawings or documents.
  • Carrying/Lifting up to 10-35 pounds Flexion/Extension (head bent down, head bent back), Handling, Kneeling, Bending at the waist, Reaching (overhead), Rotation of head/neck, Standing, Twisting at the waist and walking.
  • Apply sealant to surface per specifications.
  • Install various aircraft system components such as panel installs.
  • Use chemical solvents, sealants, coatings, primers, adhesives, paints and finishes.
  • Work in confined space and respirator usage.
