Job Summary: To assemble, install, rig, rework and functional test mechanical and electrical aircraft systems. May be required to assist lower grade employees as needed. Aircraft Assem Mechanic A classified employees may also be required to perform duties that an Aircraft Assem Mechanic B or Aircraft Assem Mechanic C would normally do. Job Responsibilities: • Works in accordance with airplane order, blueprints, engineering specifications, standard procedures, oral and written instructions to perform any combination of the following duties with a minimum amount of supervision. o Performs any layout, math computation or planning necessary to assemble and install a variety of major aircraft structures and assemblies, landing gear systems, props, and optional equipment installations. o Performs rework as required including working with engineering to interpret Quality Notifications and successfully repair per engineering requirements. • Uses aircraft mechanic's hand tools such as but not limited to screwdrivers, torque and impact wrenches, pliers, and hammers plus sheet metal tools such as rivet gun, drill motor, portable dimpling equipment, bucking bars, file, and some measuring devices such as scale. • Required to repair and rework sheet metal parts and assemblies involving operations such as cutting, filing, drilling, countersinking, fitting, shimming, riveting, and bucking. • Requires the use of functional testing equipment to run functional tests (setup, operate). • Responsible for guiding and instructing 1 or 2 lower grade employees. • Performs other related duties as required.
