Our Airborne Depot/ATFLIR factory team is seeking an Airborne Depot Value Stream Manager (VSM) to support our team 100% onsite in McKinney, Texas. The Airborne Depot/ATFLIR factory provides repair services for Turrets and EOSU's that come back from the war fighters. Turning this quickly and returning them gets planes back in the air helping protect our country. The Value Stream Manager (VSM) is the Integrated Project Team leader within a production or depot manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will report to the Factory Manager and be accountable for the daily management and direction of a cross functional team which includes Cell Leads, Production Support team (ME, PTE, IE, QE, PC) and Production engineering/test support team. The VSM will be tasked to generate, maintain, and execute clear operational schedules, priorities, goals while collaborating with functional management to allow for continuous manufacturing of line-flow or end-item products. Additionally, the VSM will have accountability for production, depot deliveries, failure investigation and triage, direction to production support, prioritization of design engineering support and safety within their factory area. This position involves direct support of manufacturing activities and requires spending significant amounts of time in and around factory areas. The candidate must be capable and willing to work extended hours (when required) in a fast-paced deadline driven environment. The ideal candidate will possess the demonstrated skills and experience necessary to perform in both manufacturing and technical leadership roles.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum eight (8) years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum five (5) years' experience.
  • Experience with manufacturing and/or operations.
  • Supervisory or managerial experience.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  • Experience working in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Previous experience leading a direct team with specific deadlines, requirements or deliverables.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and industrial engineering practices.
  • Knowledge of quality requirements relating to manufacturing environments.

  • Understanding of sequencing for fabrication, assembly, installation, testing and other manufacturing operations in relation to similar type of products or processes.

Responsibilities

  • Direct supervision of Cell Leads (CL) and responsibility for 30+ Operators and Test Techs.
  • Collaboration and communication with upstream and downstream VSMs and leadership.
  • Utilization of knowledge of manufacturing principles, manufacturing support team roles and responsibilities and manufacturing systems in support of initiatives, projects, improvements, and efforts.
  • Overseeing and leading the generation, development and sustainment of product focused processes, tooling, equipment and test architecture.
  • Deploy and maintain lean transformation 1.5 activities in conjunction with the value stream manager and support treams
  • Deploy and maintain CORE structure, concepts and execution including but not limited to tier accountability and continuous improvement
  • Personnel performance input for all related functions and career development of team members including coaching and mentoring.
  • Perform a wide variety of sequencing, planning, scheduling, coordinating, failure triage support and reporting tasks in support of the manufacturing workflow.
  • Track and monitor HPU performance of the team.
  • Strategic planning development for short term execution as well as long range planning
  • Define and Execute priorities relating to safety, people, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Interact with support engineering, supply chain, and quality with respect to project schedules.
