RTX is a world leader in air traffic sensors and automation systems, responsible for providing air traffic tools to Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSP) in the US and abroad. We have an exciting opportunity for a temporary engineer to join our Software team implementing the next generation Air Traffic Control (ATC) and Weather Data Reporting systems, as well as providing support to existing fielded systems. This assignment will be on the International Air Traffic Systems product line, and the position is in Marlborough, MA. This position is for a temporary Software Engineer who will work with Product Leads and other team members on a variety of tasks related to the development and test of systems on the international product line ATC Programs. Strong ATC experience, strong Ada programming skills and the ability to Mentor and train junior engineers on the international system and general software development and test processes is a critical criterion for a successful candidate. The successful candidate will be an innovator and a self-starter, able to complete tasks given minimal direction and goals, and possess good technical aptitude and people skills. They will enjoy being part of our team and understand the multiple facets of successful system deployment. The candidate must possess strong ATC domain experience, strong Ada programming and debugging skills, critical thinking skills and must also have experience meeting system requirements, schedule deadlines, and project budgets.

  • Mentoring and training new/junior engineers for safety critical systems, participate in design discussions and reviews
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders and customers; lead investigation and analysis resolution of software issues
  • Analyze customer reported software investigations
  • Conduct performance and resource utilization testing, integration testing for new software enhancements in the lab, developing and conducting formal test procedures.
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience in Software testing and debugging source code, ClearCase and Jira
  • Experience working in a collaborative team environment that requires multi-level communication with other engineering, program, and external stakeholders; good communications skills to facilitate mentoring & training of more junior engineers.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
  • Experience with object-oriented technology and programming languages.
  • Experience in continuous integration, and automated testing concepts
  • Experience with Networking Protocol SNMP, database, database schema, entity relationship models. Preferably has worked with relational database such as Oracle/Postgress/SQL server.
  • Knowledge of Unix, SQL, scripting
  • Flexibility in learning new COTS, tools, processes, or methodologies
