The Air Traffic Control Specialist will learn all equipment associated with the duties and responsibilities of a Sikorsky Air Traffic Controller. The work involves developing skills required to operate all equipment to provide service to pilots, becoming trained and current in both Tower and Radar, ensuring Runway/Helicopter separation is maintained, enforcing spacing and sequencing of all traffic transitioning in/out or through our assigned airspace, and understanding complex situations such as the impact of changing weather patterns on a plane's flight path. Controllers need to be able to prioritize tasks, as they may be required to guide several pilots at the same time and provide assistance during emergencies.
