About The Position

This position will be serving as an ATCS SME supporting an FAA Air Traffic Organization (ATO) Quality Assurance (QA) Office. Primary duties include: Review and validation of airborne Mandatory Occurrence Reports (MORs) and Electronic Occurrence Reports (EORs). Investigates surface incidents including runway incursions, vehicle/pedestrian deviations, pilot deviations, ATC loss of separation. As appropriate conducts interviews of pilots. Provides data analysis and support to both surface and airborne Risk Assessment Panels (RAP). As directed serves as a member of a RAP. Completes required preliminary reporting forms, i.e., FAA Form 8020-17, for various incidents. Creates replays and retrieves voice recordings to assist in investigation, research, and review of incidents. As requested by the QA Manager prepares reports to support and communicate program status. Communicates with FAA Facilities and other program offices. Purpose of communication is to provide assistance to field facilities concerning QA/QC and Runway Safety issues and share information with other program offices. Contacts field facilities to request information that can not be obtained through other methods not be obtained through other methods

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in math, engineering, or science plus a minimum of 15 years ATC experience in a LVL 8 or higher FAA/military equivalent experience; OR
  • Bachelor's degree in math, engineering or science plus a minimum of 10 years ATC experience in a LVL 8 or higher FAA/military equivalent facility, and a minimum of 3 years of ATC management or staff experience
  • Certified Professional Controller (CPC or FPL) in the TRACON or En Route ATC environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite of tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • In lieu of an applicable bachelor's degree eight (8) years of relevant experience may be substituted

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a QA/QC specialist or manager in a field ATC facility, Service Center/Service Area office, or at FAA Headquarter
