About The Position

Crown is searching for Air Traffic Control Radar Engineering Technicians with experience in installing and/or maintaining digital Primary Airport Surveillance Radar (DASR) Systems, such as FAA ASR-9, ASR-11 models, and FAA Secondary Radar System, such as the ATCBI-6/Mode-S or comparable military primary and secondary radar systems to conduct Site Surveys in preparation for equipment replacement. Military personnel with experience in radar systems perform critical roles across various branches of the U.S. Armed Forces, focusing on the operation, maintenance, and support of sophisticated radar equipment are also eligible to apply. The field Site Survey positions may require up to 100% travel. Typical Site Surveys will require 4 days of travel: one (1) day to the site, up to two (2) days for inspections and data gathering, and one (1) day travel back to their residence. One to two days to complete their Site Survey Report.

Requirements

  • An Associate degree in electronics or electronic engineering technology, or equivalent military or FAA or Military training certificates
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in radar signal processing, digital and analog circuits, microprocessors, antenna performance for the primary and secondary radar systems, and possess the ability to use diagnostic tools and software
  • Knowledge of electronics, radar systems, and troubleshooting is essential, often gained through formal education or specialized technical training.
  • Proficiency with tools such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power meters and signal generators is crucial for system maintenance.
  • Ability to analyze facility Drawings for accuracy and provide red-line changes where appropriate.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools for documenting and creating high level reports.
  • Specific elements such as structural components, MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) systems, equipment conditions, or network configuration.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and software, reading electronic schematics and flowcharts

Responsibilities

  • The Engineering Technician will be responsible for coordinating and conducting site surveys at designated locations throughout the US. A site survey for equipment installation is a critical process that evaluates a physical location to determine its suitability for a specific project ensuring all technical, logistical, and safety requirements are met before any installation begins.
  • The Engineering Technician will gather detailed information about the site's drawings, maps, charts, infrastructure, environmental conditions, Radar System Replacement solution, identifying cable routing paths and methods, identifying facility power buss connections, and evaluate whether grounding/bonding/lightning protection is adequate, and if modifications are necessary to create a comprehensive blueprint for the installation. The survey will identify all necessary cable lengths and any hardware needs.
  • The Engineering Technician will document actions to be performed, based on the information provided by the Government prior to the survey and the information gathered during the survey.
  • The Engineering Technician will provide a Site Survey Report for review by the Site Design, Quality Control, and Safety Risk Management team. The approved report will be provided to the Customer. The report may cover specific elements such as structural components, MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) systems, equipment conditions, or network configuration, highlight key findings and provide evidence of the site’s condition. For security or event production, the report may include a checklist of safety, security, and hazard concerns, ensuring that all logistical and operational risks are identified before the event.
