More About the Role: Mecklenburg County Air Quality is seeking a science and people oriented professional with a technical background and strong communication skills to serve in its Permitting and Enforcement Program. The permitting and enforcement program involves many different program areas encompassing a variety of work tasks. The Air Quality Specialist II conducts inspections, issues permits, consults with industry contacts, reviews emission inventories, composes letters & reports, enforces rules, and responds to service requests. Candidates who demonstrate a willingness to learn and an attitude of positivity & flexibility are most successful in this role. Position Summary Performs technical and investigative work involving enforcement of various codes and regulations to protect public health, safety, and the environment. This position, under minimal supervision, may also perform site inspections, collects and analyzes samples and data, and responds to citizen complaints.
