About The Position

Bowhead seeks a Navy Air Intercept Controller (AIC), Aegis Tactical Action Officer Trainer to join our team training Naval Officers at the Reconfigurable Combat Information Center Trainer (RCT #4) at the Surface Combat Systems Training Command (SCSTC) - San Diego, in San Diego, CA. The position is a contingent hire with an expected summer execution. This position does not allow for telecommuting and all work will be performed on-site in San Diego, CA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, training or work/military experience.
  • Seven (7) years of experience as a qualified Air Intercept Controller (NEC W16A) or Air Controller Supervisor (NEC W17A or W27A).
  • One (1) year of experience as an instructor in a Navy Training Environment.
  • Experience as a qualified Aegis Air Intercept Controller current LVL II/III.
  • Must be able to support training with extended periods on your feet while instructing.
  • Secret clearance required.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior SCSTC/ATRC/TACTRAGRU instructor experience.
  • Able to support shiftwork.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, organize, and conduct training and educational programs for Fleet sailors U.S. Navy Officers in support of the Surface Combat Systems Training Command (SCSTC)- San Diego.
  • Conduct traditional classroom instruction and support tactical laboratory training.
  • Serve as a senior instructor to train Aegis Officers in the tactical employment of the Aegis Combat System and associated weapons systems.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in support of curriculum development for SCSTC courses.
  • Review and analyze U.S. Navy Aegis Combat System Engineering Capabilities and Limitations.
  • Conduct dynamic assessment of sailors’ abilities to comply with approved maintenance and operational procedures.
  • Prepare, review, and customize curriculum lesson plans and instructor guides.
  • Support course reviews and curriculum updates; conduct training gap analysis.
  • Document the training conducted and generate formal assessments of measure of success.
  • Develop, test, maintain, and deliver moderately complex Aegis training programs.
  • Establish and review course content and objectives.
  • Conduct training sessions and develop criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of training activities.
  • Maintain records of training activities, participant progress, and program effectiveness.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
  • Travel may be required up to 10% of time.

Benefits

  • Targeted salary range is $80,000 to $90,000 annually based on qualifications and experience.
