The Air Launched Effector Guidance Systems Department is searching for a Senior Principal Electrical Engineer overseeing Electrical Obsolescence efforts on our Air Dominance Program. A person in this position will play a pivotal role in ensuring the long-term sustainability, reliability, and performance of critical electrical systems within the program. The selected candidate will lead cross-functional teams, develop obsolescence mitigation strategies, and drive solutions to address component lifecycle challenges with minimal impact to production. The Technical Lead also provides both technical guidance and supervision in meeting project commitments. Allocating time to mentor newer engineers is also key to the success of the team and program. They also manage suppliers and may lead efforts in proposal development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, Math or related STEM degree
  • Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience with progressing leadership roles
  • Experience with any of the following as it relates to Electrical subsystems and/or Circuit Card Assembly: Development Integration Test Production support
  • Experience with analog, digital and/or mixed signal circuit design/analysis or hardware integration/test

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience as a technical leader on a complex subsystem, ideally during Engineering, Manufacturing, and Sustainment Phases of the product lifecycle
  • In-depth knowledge of electronic components, supply chain dynamics, and obsolescence mitigation strategies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Systems engineering thought process with analytical skills background.
  • Highly self-motivated individual that can perform multidiscipline work
  • Electrical subsystems typically contain antennas, analog RF circuit cards, digital circuit cards, and configurable logic so the ideal candidate will have a background in one or more of these technological areas.
  • Ideal candidates will also have experience in project leadership, systems engineering and architecture and have a desire to grow into a higher level.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to audiences.
  • Proven experience in balancing engineering process discipline and innovation for rapid development and program success.
  • Experience working with missiles or similar systems.
  • Ability to effectively work multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Practical experience in all phases of the product development lifecycle, with an emphasis on obsolescence management
  • Experience in developing proposals associated with obsolescence mitigation
  • Experience leading large, complex trade studies
  • Experience developing and materializing conceptual designs and integrating them into a system of systems

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all electrical obsolescence management efforts for the Air Dominance Program, ensuring alignment with program goals and customer requirements.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive obsolescence management plans, including risk assessments, mitigation strategies, and component replacement roadmaps.
  • Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, and program management teams to identify and address obsolescence risks in a proactive and cost-effective manner.
  • Manage supplier relationships to ensure availability of critical components and identify alternative solutions when needed.
  • Assignments may include proposal development, design changes and analysis; developing and documenting subsystem requirements and test plans and reports; peer reviews of artifacts as a subject matter expert; presentations to peers, management, and government customers; and root-cause failure investigations.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements to inform obsolescence management strategies.
  • Provide technical guidance and leadership to a multidisciplinary team to resolve obsolescence challenges and ensure program success.
  • Prepare and deliver detailed reports, presentations, and briefings to internal and external stakeholders, including program leadership and customers.
  • Ensure compliance with RTX’s policies, procedures, and quality standards in all obsolescence management activities.
  • Work environment is primarily in an office, but may include labs, field work, or a combination.
  • Raytheon has a strong culture of mentoring; it is expected that employees will be both mentors and mentees.
