About The Position

The Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic position at the US Mint's Manufacturing Directorate in Denver involves the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex integrated heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. This role is critical for ensuring the operational efficiency of production and administrative functions within the facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of HVAC-related tasks, including balancing systems, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.

Requirements

  • Experience working with complex heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems.
  • Ability to perform the duties of the position with normal or limited supervision.
  • Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, and repair.
  • Technical practices related to HVAC systems.
  • Ability to interpret instructions and specifications, including blueprint reading.
  • Certification under EPA 608 Universal Certification (required within one year of appointment).

  • Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS).
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and practices in HVAC maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot malfunctions on a variety of complex integrated HVAC systems.
  • Balance and adjust HVAC systems to meet climate-controlled conditions in various areas using Building Automation Systems (BAS).
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot water coolers, refrigerators, ventilation equipment, and air conditioners.
  • Test for refrigerant and coolant leaks, evacuate, clean systems, and recharge refrigerant systems as needed.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on all HVAC systems, including cleaning, lubricating, and testing equipment.
