About The Position

The Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic at the University of Pennsylvania is responsible for maintaining and repairing HVAC and refrigeration systems within the university's facilities. This role requires a strong background in HVAC systems, including experience with chilled water and refrigerant systems, as well as the ability to work in a multi-trade environment. The position involves shift work and physical demands such as extensive walking, standing, and lifting.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 5-7 years of experience with HVAC and/or Steam systems.
• Active EPA Universal Refrigerant recovery certificate.
• Philadelphia Class A Operating Engineer License.
• Experience in a multi-trades environment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with building air conditioning systems.
• Knowledge of NEC, OSHA, and NFPA70E regulations.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repairs on HVAC and refrigeration systems.
• Install, troubleshoot, and repair components associated with chilled water and refrigerant systems.
• Operate and maintain large centrifugal chillers and auxiliary equipment.
• Maintain and operate a chilled water distribution loop.
• Interpret and work from schematics, drawings, sketches, and O&M manuals.
