About The Position

The AirCare EMT BLS Team operates as a driver and member of the Critical Care Transport teams, responsible for transferring patients between facilities. This role requires the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle, ensuring maintenance of mission-ready status, and adherence to laws and regulations set by the highway and the NC Office of Emergency Medical Services. The EMT will assist transport nurses with the physical aspects of patient transfer, promoting a safe and supportive transport environment for all passengers.

Requirements

  • High school diploma and one year experience driving emergency vehicles.
  • Previous hospital experience required.
  • North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician certification or higher.
  • North Carolina Class C driver's license.
  • Driver's Training Course (EVOC or CEVO).

Responsibilities

  • Promotes the safe and supportive transport environment for all passengers in the transport vehicle.
  • Practices professional and courteous conduct in accordance with the five key values of the institution and the expectations of the AirCare leadership.
  • Meets guidelines to satisfy regulatory requirements of NCOEMS.
  • Meets patient care guidelines as well as family and patient psychosocial and physical needs to optimize recovery.
  • Conserves and maximizes utilization of resources.
  • Utilizes knowledge of age/developmental specific care needs during emergency response or when utilizing emergency equipment.
