About The Position

The AileyCamp Co-Manager is committed to executing AileyCamp at highest standard. AileyCamp uses the power of dance and personal development to support youth in developing a heightened awareness of their full potential, self-confidence, critical thinking skills and decision-making skills to navigate difficult challenges. The AileyCamp Co-Manager will work with STG Manager to support events leading AileyCamp such as but not limited to: AC workshops, special events, interviews, parent meetings, orientations, and any event related to AileyCamp. This role will also ensure that programs assigned fit into STG’s vision and mission as well as STG’s Education + Community Engagement goal of targeting historically excluded communities and those who traditionally would not attend or participate in our events. STG’S AILEYCAMP PRE- CAMP In office work 10-20 hours per week from hire date through May, increasing as we get closer to program Ensure success of STG’s AileyCamp program from beginning to end, in partnership with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and Seattle Theatre Group Work with STG Manager to co-lead and support the program on all items below Conduct student recruitment and interview sessions for AileyCamp Conduct parent/guardian orientation 2-3 weeks prior to star of camp Review camp handbooks, invitations, brochures and programs Coordinate and order camp uniforms Coordinate all aspects of camp fieldtrips Coordinate bus transportation Coordinate breakfast, lunch and snacks for campers Help create all camp handbooks, invitations, and programs Coordinate bus transportation of campers to and from camp Collaborate with National Director and Deputy Director in hiring of faculty with approvals of STG Associate Director Review curriculum and lesson plans for each staff Create a Daily Schedule of the program in conjunction with STG and National AC Directors Conduct a mandatory staff orientation and CPR training as needed Voluntarily participate in background checks and finger printing Participate in events leading up to camp listed under “Program Dates” AC Workshop Create schedule and hire faculty in collaboration with Dance Manager Run and be onsite for the duration of the workshop Prepare all materials and supplies needed DURING CAMP Attend all camps days Monday-Friday from 7:30-3:30pm daily. Troubleshoot and address challenges, needs related to campers, staff, transportation services, catering, facility, and other aspects of camp Be responsible for onsite decision-making regarding camp Coordinate day-to-day running of program relating to the physical set-up of the camp site under the guidance of National Director and Seattle Theatre Group Coordinate all correspondence in regard to AileyCamp Supervise faculty members as needed in creation of the end-of-camp performance materials Participate in rehearsal, preparation and day-of final performance activities as needed to support artistic staff Monitor written reports of individuals students and groups submitted by faculty and staff as needed for documentation Dress in AileyCamp uniforms and neat and clean manner ensuring clothing/and or costumes do not contain inappropriate references to children’s (alcohol, drugs, profanity, etc) Ensure that Manager is onsite prior/after to any staff for pre/post camp hours Monday – Friday Handle communications with STG operations for covid, deliveries and needs for the program with support from Dance Manager Handle communications with Campers and Parent/Guardians during the program Report individual campers’ counseling needs to Guidance Counselor Supervise faculty, staff for entirety of program. members as needed in creation of the end-of-camp performance materials POST CAMP Handle communications with STG operations for deliveries and needs for the program with support from Dance Manager Provide Camp Surveys for Campers and Staff Conduct Exit Interviews with Staff and Faculty Create and review AC Final Report Close out program STG will support:  Create Marketing materials and be liaison to marketing  Create and Review camper/parent and staff handbooks in consultation with AC Co-Managers & National AC Director Prepare all materials and supplies needed Coordinate and order camp uniforms Coordinate all aspects of camp fieldtrips Coordinate bus transportation Coordinate breakfast, lunch and snacks for campers Coordinate bus transportation of campers to and from camp Handle communications with Parents/Campers leading up to camp Artist payments Vendor payments (facilities, contractors, busing, catering, supplies) Onsite support as needed via ECE staff or interns  Support the production side of the Final Performance which includes working with Crew, FOH, RSVPs and help advance all technical aspects of the Final performance Create and review AC Final Report

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of current field of performing arts and arts education with at least 5 years of experience
  • Experience in managing and overseeing youth and adult programming; previous teaching artistry work encouraged but not required
  • Experience administratively in community arts programs for diverse ages and backgrounds.
  • Proficient in relevant Microsoft Office Suites and internet-based research
  • 5 years’ experience in event producing, planning and booking
  • Experience working with culturally diverse artists and community groups
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong organizational ability
  • CPR + First Aid Certified; if not STG will provide training

All Day
