About The Position

Hourly Rate: $17.31 - $26.51 Schedule: Varied Shift: Varied Definition of Position: Will assist the Teacher in preparing, implementing, and evaluating daily classroom activities; ensuring that children are supervised and taught in a consistent manner; providing for child care needs and daily routines and other assignments deemed necessary; maintaining a safe and healthy environment and share the responsibility of maintaining orderliness and cleanliness in the classroom to include but not limited to cleaning and sanitizing toys, sweeping and mopping floors in bathrooms and classrooms and possibly cleaning and sanitizing toilets and sinks. Assist with daily personal hygiene of the children such as diapering, feeding, toileting and handwashing. Utilize the teacher, other staff, and resources for technical assistance. Maintain daily childcare information, positive communication with parents, congenial and respectful relations with staff, children, families, and community and maintain confidentiality regarding staff and family information. Participate in staff meetings, conferences, training sessions and workshops as assigned. Demonstrate familiarity with GSHCS policies and procedures, performance standards, values and mission statement. Keep current and accurate records. Maintain objective and professional standards. Improve self-skills and education. Fulfill role as a mandated reporter as stated in Child Abuse and Neglect policy. Perform any other department related duties as requested by your supervisor. Be present at work to provide consistency of service. Be a contributory team member in a positive and productive manner. Demonstrate commitment to mission, values, and policies in the performance of daily duties. The Aide I and Aide II positions are responsible to the Teacher, Manager.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior to employment must be registered with Oregon's Central ground Registry (as per Oregon Department of Early Learning & Care regulations).
  • Current CPR/First Aid and Food Handlers or obtain these within 90-days of hire date. All the above certifications must be kept current for employment.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • E A minimum of 750 hours work experience, verifiable, in a certified childcare center or comparable group childcare program.
  • Both Aide I and Aide II shall not be left alone with children until they have worked for one year (2080 hours) in a Certified Center (GSHCS policy).
  • Be able to communicate clearly and concisely with adults and children.
  • Ability to work with a culturally diverse population.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer completion of at least 20 semester credits or 30 quarterly credits in Early Childhood Education or Child Development.

Responsibilities

  • Willingly accept supervision.
  • a good understanding of early childhood education, growth and development to appropriate activities.
  • Observe, compare, and monitor behaviors, records, and data to determine compliance with prescribed standards.
  • Maintain safety, ratios, cleanliness, and non-stressful environment.
  • Must actively supervise children in the classroom and on the playground by moving around and being engaged with the children.
  • Always be aware of surroundings.
  • Work with children calmly nurturing, encouraging and supporting in a non-judgmental environment.
  • Have general knowledge of nutrition, health, and first aid and be able to apply that knowledge specifically and generally in the classroom.
  • Enhance positive relationships with children, parents, team members and community.
  • Be cheerful, flexible, and promote team spirit with fellow teammates.
  • Speak and write in English.
  • Produce written documentation with clear and organized thoughts, using proper sentence construction, punctuation and grammar. (Bilingual skills are a plus).
  • Assist parents in meeting social-emotional, physical and developmental goals and needs of their child through planning, implementation, goal setting and evaluations.
  • Set up classroom which requires the movement of tables and chairs, shelves, etc.
  • Perform occasional cleaning of classroom which may require the use of a broom, mop, vacuum, cleaning fluids and sanitizing agents.
  • Communicate effectively with children, staff, families, and the public, using the phone and in face-to-face, one-to-one, and group settings.
  • Refrain from initiating, participating in or perpetuating rumors/gossip that is damaging or destructive to an individual or the organization.
  • Demonstrate ethical and appropriate behavior for a healthcare/childcare environment to include, but not limited to, dignity, patient's rights and privacy and maintain confidentiality of patient/children's information.
  • The employee supports the hospital mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures.
  • Participates in required education for DNV programs as applicable to position (reference program education curriculum).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
