About The Position

Assist in NAC classes to successfully implement the New Arrival Center curriculum and accelerate English language acquisition for new immigrants. Work with NAC teachers to successfully transition immigrant students to English using the New Arrival Center Curriculum. Tutor, on an individual basis or in a small group, pre-literate NAC students or other NAC students who are experiencing difficulty in a content area. Assist teachers and campus personnel in communicating with parents of NAC students. Prepare learning center/instructional materials for NAC students as requested by the NAC teacher during non-instructional time. Work with the NAC Curriculum Coaches to enhance the achievement of the NAC students. Participate in staff development/training courses to build and enhance skills useful in the delivery of instruction for NAC students. Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Special Populations supervisor. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.

Requirements

  • Proof of high school graduation or GED equivalent.
  • Physically able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have one of the following: a. 48 hours of college credits, OR b. Associates or higher degree, OR c. Competency on the CFISD proficiency test (score of 70 or above).
