About The Position

FWI is building a team to provide expert analytical, coordination, and documentation support enabling consistent implementation of the NIST AI Risk Management Framework across its lifecycle. In this position you will analyze AI standards landscapes across domestic and international standards development organizations, identify alignment and gaps with the AI RMF, and draft technical contributions to support NIST's leadership in trustworthy AI standards. Position is contingent upon contract award Work Schedule and Location: Remote: This full-time remote position will work Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm. Some travel may be required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant professional experience in AI standards development, coordination, or analysis activities, including engagement with domestic or international Standards Development Organizations (SDOs).
  • Experience may include supporting standards-related activities, conducting standards landscape or gap analyses, developing alignment materials, or synthesizing standards impacts related to trustworthy AI and AI risk management frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an AI Standards Landscape and Alignment Analysis across selected standards development organizations (SDOs), identifying alignment with the AI RMF, gaps, areas of concern, and TEVV-related implications.
  • Prepare Standards Alignment and Impact Briefs examining specific standards topics, alignment questions, or potential impacts on AI trustworthiness, evaluation planning, or interoperability.
  • Draft review comments and technical materials for NIST consideration in SDO committees and working groups (up to 20 comment sets per year).
  • Maintain and update the standards landscape analysis reflecting evolving standards activities and priorities.
  • Coordinate between domestic and international standards development organizations to support NIST Federal staff engagement.
  • Assess potential impacts of standards on AI trustworthiness, adoption, and interoperability.
  • Document standards activities relevant to AI RMF implementation and describe areas of alignment, divergence, and need across standards efforts.
