About The Position

The AI Researcher - PhD Intern position at Figma is designed for PhD students specializing in AI, machine learning, or related fields. The intern will engage in both fundamental and applied research to develop innovative AI solutions that enhance Figma's design products. This role involves formulating new modeling approaches, exploring cutting-edge technologies, and publishing research findings in leading AI/ML conferences. The internship is available for Winter or Summer 2025.

Requirements

• 4th or 5th year Ph.D. student in AI, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, or a related field.
• Proven expertise in AI through publications on recent advancements such as Large Language Models or Diffusion Models.
• Track record in applying machine learning techniques to projects in academia or industry.
• Experience in Python and machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.
• Experience solving sophisticated problems and comparing alternative solutions.

• Experience communicating solutions effectively to different audiences.

Responsibilities

• Drive fundamental and applied research in Generative AI and deep learning with Figma product use cases in mind.
• Formulate and implement new modeling approaches to improve the effectiveness of Figma's current AI models and enable the launch of new AI-powered product features.
• Explore the boundaries of current technology and experiment with novel ideas.
• Publish research in leading AI/ML conferences.
