About The Position

The AI Programs Director is responsible for providing strategic and technical leadership in implementing and maintaining responsible AI practices within the Digital Platform Artificial Intelligence Office. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to support responsible AI objectives and managing large-scale AI programs with budgets exceeding $20 million. The director will oversee the daily implementation of AI risk management policies and procedures, ensuring ethical and safe deployment of AI and machine learning models.

Requirements

• BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
• Minimum of 15 years of enterprise project management experience in broad-based information systems
• Experience managing increasing project size and complexity that are transformational in nature for the organization
• Experience in full life-cycle application development and/or building enterprise applications

Nice To Haves

• Experience in an effective team environment, building strong relationships, negotiating, solving problems and issues, resolving conflicts, and managing resources in a matrix environment
• Experience implementing large-scale AI systems and familiarity with NIST AI RMF and the relevant operational controls and best practices
• Experience in government/legislative development bodies, regulators, standards bodies, in designing and implementing operating models, governance, AI risk management policies and controls
• Strong understanding of risk management principles and practices
• Experience in coaching and mentoring project team members
• Experience using portfolio management applications and Rational tools
• Project management certification (PMP)

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with various departments to ensure Responsible AI requirements are developed, implemented, and properly monitored
• Manage a system for tracking and monitoring AI-related risks across different projects and operations
• Support and implement AI's strategy to ensure the ethical and safe deployment of AI and machine learning models
• Provide strategic direction for developing enterprise project plans specifying goals, strategy, staffing, scheduling, identification of risk, contingency plan, and allocation of resources
• Provide expert knowledge of risk management methodology approaches, techniques, and tools to senior management
• Direct system analysts, software designers, and programmers to determine the best methods to achieve project objectives
• Coach and mentor project team members; mentor other project managers around Responsible AI and risk management methodology
