About The Position

Performs highly advanced computer systems analysis work in support of TxDOT Artificial Intelligence Program and associated information technology systems. Oversees work involving analyzing user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate processing or to improve existing systems. Oversees technical support and advice involving the development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of projects/programs and/or systems. Reports to the I.T. Division's Service Integration & Governance Section Director. Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer/Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or related discipline. Related experience and/or relevant technical training may be substituted for education on a year per year basis.
  • 5 years of experience in systems analysis, application systems support, or related work experience (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent) Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.
  • Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
  • Extensive knowledge of: IT/IS software and hardware development methodologies and standards
  • Extensive knowledge of: Concepts, techniques and tools used in planning, designing and implementing database management systems and related technologies
  • Extensive knowledge of: Applicable computer software applications and hardware
  • Expert skill in: Researching, analyzing, and interpreting policies and state and federal laws and regulations specific to functional area
  • Expert skill in: Maintaining effective working relationships with others
  • Expert skill in: Scheduling, testing, installing, and implementing computer programs/systems
  • Expert skill in: Troubleshooting computer systems
  • Expert skill in: Analyzing and organizing business and technical data
  • Expert skill in: Communicating technical information effectively and to non-technical audiences
  • Expert skill in: Using and supporting applicable computer systems

Nice To Haves

  • 5 years of experience in systems analysis, IT governance, risk management, or related technical/compliance fields Knowledge and understanding of basic artificial intelligence concepts

Responsibilities

  • Develops and delivers training and guidance on AI policies, risk, and governance processes.
  • Coordinate the AI Risk Review process, ensuring compliance with responsible AI frameworks, data privacy, cybersecurity, and ethical standards.
  • Researches and evaluates AI software and solutions.
  • Provide technical and analytical support in evaluating solution architecture, data flows, vendor risks, and system impacts related to AI and technology solutions
  • Updates, maintains, and publishes program documents, including policies, policy manuals, standards, procedures, and templates related to AI governance and risk assessment processes.
  • Researches, plans, coordinates and develops programs, projects, activities or procedures to increase productivity, efficiency and streamline operations.
  • Reviews industry developments and makes recommendations for possible agency application.
  • Evaluates statistical data, interprets results and prepares reports on effectiveness of program activities.
  • Oversees the coordination of AI projects.
  • May serve as a lead worker
