About The Position

We're looking for a hands-on AI Principal Engineer to join Improvado and help shape the future of AI-powered marketing intelligence. This is a unique opportunity for someone who thrives at the intersection of deep technical work and real business impact — someone who can move from architecture decisions to production code to client conversations without missing a beat. You'll work directly with our CEO and VP of Product on our most critical AI initiatives. Depending on your background and strengths, your focus will be either Product Architecture — owning the core AI Agent and data intelligence systems — or InfoSec Architecture — ensuring our AI infrastructure is secure, compliant, and enterprise-grade. Both tracks require the same core profile: a fast-moving, ownership-driven engineer who builds with urgency and thinks at a systems level. Note: This is a high-ownership, high-impact role with a 6-day workweek. We're building fast and need someone ready to move with urgency and focus.

Requirements

A catalyst for action with a relentless drive for execution — a doer who thrives on speed, takes absolute ownership, and is energized by a fast-paced environment
Deep experience building AI/ML systems, ideally with LLMs in production — agents, retrieval, orchestration, evaluation
Hands-on with modern AI tooling: prompt engineering, vector databases, Claude/Opus, Claude Code or similar agentic coding environments
(InfoSec track) Strong background in security architecture, ideally in enterprise SaaS or AI systems — experience with compliance frameworks (SOC2, GDPR), access control design, and threat modeling
Strong product instincts — you think beyond models and love solving real user problems
Clear communicator with strong English — comfortable leading technical discussions with clients and internal stakeholders
Available for a 6-day workweek with consistent overlap with US timezone (until 6pm PST)

Nice To Haves

(Product track) Experience with Bayesian modeling, causal inference, or knowledge graph design is a strong plus
Previous startup or fast-paced environment experience is a plus

Responsibilities

Design and implement key AI-powered features from the ground up — from architecture to production
Build and evolve intelligent agents using modern LLM frameworks, including memory systems, Knowledge Graph design, multi-agent orchestration, and retrieval pipelines
Drive technical architecture decisions across your focus area — Product or InfoSec — and ensure high code quality and reliability
Write scalable, production-ready code and take full ownership of outcomes end-to-end
Define and track success metrics — from model performance to user satisfaction and adoption
(InfoSec track) Design and enforce security architecture across our AI systems: data access controls, compliance frameworks, vulnerability management, and secure-by-default agent behavior. Preparing the product for AI InfoSec compliance certifications.
(Product track) Own the architecture of our AI Agent product — Bayesian marketing-mix models, causal inference pipelines, data governance agents, and the Knowledge Graph that powers it all
