About The Position

The AI Operations Engineer ensures operational excellence and scalability of Mortenson’s AI platforms and deployed models. This role focuses on maintaining AI infrastructure, implementing CI/CD pipelines, and optimizing workflows for speed, reliability, and compliance. It is critical to Mortenson’s 2026 priorities: AI readiness, governed delivery, and enterprise-scale adoption. Hiring Locations: Minneapolis, MN

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• 3+ years in AI/ML operations, DevOps, or platform engineering
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and cloud platforms (Azure preferred)
• Strong understanding of MLOps practices and model lifecycle management

Nice To Haves

• Experience in AEC/construction technology environments
• Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric and enterprise data integration
• Knowledge of AI governance frameworks and security best practices

Responsibilities

• Maintain AI platforms and deployed models to ensure 99.9% uptime and rapid recovery.
• Monitor system health, performance, and security compliance across environments.
• Design and implement CI/CD pipelines for AI models and services.
• Automate deployments and rollback processes to minimize downtime and manual intervention.
• Streamline operational workflows for speed and scalability.
• Partner with AI Manager and product teams to align infrastructure with delivery goals.
• Ensure adherence to Mortenson’s AI governance standards (privacy, security, ethical use).
• Implement monitoring and audit controls for compliance and risk mitigation.
• Work closely with AI Engineers, Data Scientists, and MLOps teams to troubleshoot and optimize deployments.
• Provide technical guidance and documentation for operational best practices.
