About The Position

Pointer Technologies is seeking a talented and passionate Software Engineer specializing in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) to join our team. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve challenging problems, develop robust software systems, and deploy AI-powered features into production.
The ideal candidate will have a broad technical background, and the ability to design, build, and deploy scalable AI/ML models that align with our mission. This person is diligent, works well with others, inspired to learn, driven by mission and practices effective communication.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
• Strong proficiency in programming languages like Python, R, or Java, with expertise in ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).
• Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and statistical methods.
• Experience building and deploying machine learning models into production environments.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure for AI/ML workflows.
• Familiarity with data wrangling, ETL pipelines, and big data tools (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
• TS/SCI clearance with polygraph required

Nice To Haves

• Experience with specific AI domains, such as natural language processing (NLP), computer vision, or reinforcement learning.
• Understanding of MLOps principles and tools like MLflow or Kubeflow.
• Contributions to open-source AI/ML projects.
• Published research or patents in the AI/ML space.
• Technical leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize machine learning models for real-world and national security and defense applications
• Build and maintain scalable data pipelines for model training and deployment.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and data teams to understand requirements and translate them into actionable solutions.
• Conduct research to explore new AI/ML techniques and stay updated on the latest industry advancements.
• Evaluate model performance, troubleshoot issues, and fine-tune solutions for optimal results.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
