About The Position

Apple Machine Translation team is looking for exceptional researchers/scientists to develop the next generation of core MT technology to allow our users to communicate across language barriers. Passionate about Natural Language Processing, Language Modeling and Machine Translation? Join us to bring the most advanced Machine Translation solution across the Apple ecosystem. Machine Translation is a critical technology that enables connecting people across language barriers. The Apple MT organization is responsible for the Ru0026D of state-of-the-art approaches to MT as well as applications of this technology (e.g., Translate app, Safari web page translation and System-wide translation). We are looking for research scientists and engineers passionate about applied research in the space of MT, investigating novel modeling and learning approaches and evaluation methods. As a member of the core modeling team, you will have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of language technologies and advance the edge of the MT technology to tackle real world problems.

Requirements

• Passion for Natural Language Processing, Language Modeling, and Machine Translation.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work as a team player.
• Track record of impactful contributions to the field of Machine Translation or related fields.
• Expertise in key language technologies including machine translation, large language models, and natural language processing.
• Experience with standard MT/NLP toolkits such as FairSeq and OpenNMT.

Responsibilities

• Develop the next generation of core Machine Translation technology.
• Investigate novel modeling and learning approaches in Machine Translation.
• Evaluate methods for Machine Translation and related fields.
• Work with a wide variety of language technologies.
• Formulate research problems and design experiments.
• Implement solutions in programming languages such as C/C++/Java, Python, and bash scripting.
• Design and deploy real-world, large-scale, user-facing MT or LLM systems.
