About The Position

The Humanitarian Assistance & Disaster Relief Systems Group at MIT Lincoln Laboratory is seeking entry-level scientists and engineers to assist in developing and deploying advanced technologies aimed at addressing significant challenges in humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, and climate change. The role involves implementing AI/ML, data science, and software development solutions to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency in critical situations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field.
  • At least two years of experience in a research, work/internship, or independent-study context in AI/ML, data science, or robotics.
  • Experience with scientific programming languages and tools such as Python and MATLAB.
  • Familiarity with software development practices including version control and Linux.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in geospatial computation (e.g., geopandas).

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the implementation of technologies for Humanitarian Assistance & Disaster Relief applications.
  • Develop software tools and systems for data visualization and decision support.
  • Integrate advanced remote sensing and situational awareness technologies for disaster relief.
  • Apply AI/ML methods to address humanitarian challenges in sparse data environments.
