About The Position

QTEC Aerospace is seeking an ARTIFICATL INTELLIGENCE (AI)/MACHINE LEARNING (ML) ENGINEER to join our team of professionals at Schriever Space Force Base in Colorado Springs, CO. The successful candidate will become part of a team of professionals representing both industry and government in support of a Missile Defense System (MDS) with a mission of protecting the United States and our allies. The successful candidate will be detail oriented, have a proven track record and a positive work ethic. Job Summary QTEC Aerospace is looking for highly capable and motivated individuals. The successful candidate will function as an integral member of a multi-contractor team providing program, engineering, and technical support to Missile Defense programs. The chosen candidate will be responsible for supporting development of AI/ML products directly feeding the AI/ML strategy, communicating AI/ML concepts and results to both technical and non-technical audiences, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative AI-powered solutions

Requirements

• Bachelors of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or a Masters' Degree
• Must be able to support an in-person / closed-area work environment
• Possess a fundamental understanding of AI/ML principles and experience supporting AI/ML projects from conception to deployment
• Must be able to work with little direct supervision, work as an integral member of a product delivery team, and meet time critical delivery schedules
• Familiarity in a variety of AI/ML techniques, including deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and reinforcement learning
• Experience with programming in Python, R, or other relevant languages
• Experience with AI/ML frameworks and libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, and Keras
• Experience with Large Language Models/Generative AI and Prompt Engineering. Also, using LLM/GAI solutions for usage in human-machine teaming for Software Development.
• Familiarity with Linux operating systems
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Must be able to work effectively in a dynamic and collaborative team environment
• Ability for some limited travel (less than 10% time) to support program meetings
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, and prepare and brief presentations to the customer as needed
• Self-starter with ability to work both independently and in a team environment
• Candidates must currently have and be able to maintain a minimum DoD SECRET level security clearance.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in Engineering and Aerospace
• Familiarity with MLOps and deploying models at scale
• Familiarity with A/B testing and other methods for evaluating the performance of AI/ML models
• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools
• Experience working with sensitive data and adhering to data privacy regulations
• Experience in Modeling and Simulation
• Knowledge of the flight characteristics, motion, atmospheric dynamics, and performance of missiles
• Knowledge of engineering modeling principles behind body motion, trajectory analysis, counter measures, debris, and signature modeling
• Background with missile system models, atmospheric dynamics, and performance
• Experience in Agile software development methodologies including Scrum and Kanban

Responsibilities

• Support the full lifecycle of AI/ML projects, from problem definition and data collection to model development, deployment, and monitoring
• Support design, development, and implementation of AI/ML models and algorithms using appropriate tools and techniques
• Ensure the quality and accuracy of AI/ML models through rigorous testing and validation
• Support collaboration with software engineers and DevOps teams to deploy AI/ML models into production environments
• Support the AI/ML lead in monitoring the performance of AI/ML models in production and support the AI/ML lead identify areas for improvement
• Communicate AI/ML concepts and results effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Work in close coordination with multiple teams that will leverage AI/ML products
• Work with AI/ML Lead to define problem statements and success metrics for AI/ML products
