About The Position

The AI Intern will assist the Texas Permanent School Fund Corporation (TPSF) team in exploring and implementing artificial intelligence solutions to enhance operational efficiency and investment strategies. This role offers hands-on experience with cutting-edge AI technologies in a financial services environment. The Texas Permanent School Fund (PSF) was created by Texas’ first Constitution in 1845 as a perpetual fund to support the state’s public schools and was seeded with $2 million in 1854. Since that time, the PSF has grown to comprise over $57 billion in assets and will distribute over $2.4 billion annually to Texas K-12 schools. In 2021 the 87th Texas Legislature established the Texas Permanent School Fund Corporation (Texas PSF) as a stand-alone special-purpose governmental corporation.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.
• Strong understanding of fundamental AI and machine learning concepts and algorithms (e.g., supervised/unsupervised learning, deep learning, NLP).
• Proficiency in at least one programming language commonly used for AI development (e.g., Python, R).
• Experience with relevant AI/ML libraries and frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
• Familiarity with data manipulation and analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Pandas).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

• Interest in financial markets and investment management is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Research and evaluate various AI/Machine Learning models and algorithms relevant to financial data analysis and operational optimization.
• Assist in the collection, cleaning, and preprocessing of large datasets for AI model training.
• Develop and implement prototypes of AI solutions, including data visualization, predictive analytics, and natural language processing applications.
• Collaborate with IT and investment teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications for AI projects.
• Support the deployment and monitoring of AI models, ensuring their performance and reliability.
• Document AI methodologies, code, and project outcomes clearly and concisely.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI and machine learning and recommend their potential application within TPSF.
