As a Lead Product Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in developing AI-powered systems that enhance accounting workflows through automation, intelligence, and seamless orchestration. In this role as an AI Engineer, you will innovate in a startup-like environment, be part of a fast-moving, forward-thinking group that is creating AI-driven software for accounting professionals. You’ll work with top AI and software development experts, leveraging cutting-edge technology to build intelligent and scalable systems. This role is for the CoCounsel for Accounting team, formed from the recent acquisition of the startup Materia. You will collaborate across functions, working closely with AI/ML engineers, frontend developers, product managers, and designers to build robust services that support generative AI experiences. You will help to build out our core AI interfaces such as Conversations, Workspaces, Grid, and Knowledge Base. You will ramp up with a mentor and a world-class engineering team into software engineering best practices, and you'll be expected to quickly transition into contributing independently and with high standards for quality, testing, and user experience.

  • Innovate in a startup-like environment to create AI-driven software for accounting professionals.

  • Graduating in Fall 2025 or Spring/Summer 2026 with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 1 or more relevant internships, co-ops, or other industry experience.
  • Strong programming skills with at least one of Python or Typescript.
  • Familiarity with AI augmented coding, such as with Cursor, Claude Code, or Copilot.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and communication skills through group projects.
  • Passion for AI-driven software and new engineering paradigms.
  • An adaptable, creative problem solver who enjoys exploring new technologies.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Demonstrated project ownership experience via side projects, hackathons, etc.
  • Experience building generative AI products, agent-based architectures, or AI APIs from providers like OpenAI and Anthropic.
  • Knowledge of vector databases, embeddings, or search-based AI.
  • Experience with tech stack: Python/FastAPI, PostgreSQL, AWS, Vercel, Next.js/React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS.
