AI Engineer - Agent
About The Position
An AI Engineer is needed to develop intelligent systems capable of reasoning, planning, and executing intricate workflows. Responsibilities include designing agentic systems that manage complex tasks, perform multi-step actions, and ensure safe interactions with tools and data. This role focuses on integrating LLM intelligence with system engineering to enhance functionality. Contributions will directly support the evolution of Zoom AI Companion into a more dependable and advanced assistant. About the team You will join a highly collaborative engineering organization focused on building next-generation AI-powered experiences. The team works across machine learning, distributed systems, and product engineering to deliver scalable, reliable, and intelligent solutions. With a focus on innovation and real-world impact, the team is shaping how AI enhances communication and productivity at Zoom.
Requirements
- Have a qualification in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field
- Have 4+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering
- Have 5+ years of experience in backend or distributed systems engineering
- Demonstrate experience building scalable, production-grade AI or agent-based systems
- Demonstrate programming skills with Python, TypeScript, Go, Java, C++, or Rust
- Have experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Have hands-on experience with Kubernetes, containers, and CI/CD pipelines
- Demonstrate an understanding of software architecture, observability, and performance optimization
Nice To Haves
- Have built or evaluated AI agents and agentic workflows
- Demonstrate familiarity with modern agent frameworks
- Have experience with AI development tools such as Claude Code or Codex
- Demonstrate knowledge of prompt engineering, safety systems, and agent evaluation techniques
