About The Position

This AI Developer role at GDIT supports USPS in developing an AI program aimed at automating requirements and test-case preparation using modern tools and technologies. The position involves enhancing automation capabilities by integrating AI into core requirements and test workflows. Key responsibilities include collaborating with Requirements and Test Automation teams to identify high-impact use cases for generative AI, machine learning, and automation, ensuring AI solutions function effectively within USPS technical environments, and developing and maintaining AI scripts and programs. The developer will also create documentation and training materials, mentor team members on AI utilization, transform business user stories into technical requirements using AI, and integrate AI capabilities with existing test automation frameworks. Additionally, the role involves designing and implementing prototypes, pilot solutions, and automated tools, providing guidance on AI integration, recommending AI-driven solutions, and documenting process changes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred
  • 8+ years of IT experience
  • 2–3 years of specialized AI development experience in technology or software development
  • Expertise developing solutions using Visual Studio Code, Python, Selenium, Databricks, Copilot, and related tools to leverage generative AI and large language models (LLMs)
  • Ability to develop AI-driven tools or programs that generate technical requirements based on business user stories
  • Experience integrating Python-based test automation frameworks with AI capabilities
  • Candidates invited for interviews must present working samples
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance and successfully pass a thorough Government background screening process requiring the completion of detailed forms and fingerprinting
  • U.S. residency requirement: resided in the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for the last five years
  • U.S. Citizens cannot have left the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for longer than 6 months consecutively in the last 3 years (unless they meet certain exceptions)
  • Non-U.S. Citizens cannot have left the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for longer than 90 days consecutively in the last 3 years

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Requirements and Test Automation teams to identify high-impact use cases for generative AI, machine learning, and automation.
  • Ensure all AI solutions function effectively within USPS technical environments, including postal laptops.
  • Develop and maintain AI scripts and programs.
  • Create the documentation and training materials needed to support team adoption.
  • Mentor team members on effective AI utilization and best practices.
  • Use AI to transform business user stories into technical requirements.
  • Integrate AI capabilities with the existing test automation framework to generate test scripts and enhance automation workflows.
  • Design and implement prototypes, pilot solutions, and automated tools using technologies such as Visual Studio, Python, and generative AI.
  • Provide guidance, standards, and best practices to help teams incorporate AI into daily operations.
  • Recommend AI-driven solutions aligned with business needs and provide actionable insights.
  • Document process changes using approved standards and methods to ensure consistent, high-quality deliverables.
  • Ensure all AI scripts and programs are fully executable on postal laptops.
  • Integrate automated solutions with existing software systems and databases.
  • Provide technical oversight and review work performed by team members.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
