MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT As an AI Cybersecurity Engineer Principal, the work you'll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of our government clients. You will play a crucial role via the following: Lead initiatives to integrate AI technologies in cybersecurity Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement AI-driven defense mechanisms. Drive innovation in cybersecurity operations by leveraging machine learning and AI models. Utilize specialized tools like CrowdStrike, Qualys, and Splunk/SOAR to enhance security operations and automate threat detection and response. Lead the strategy for securing AI systems, including large language models (LLMs) and agentic AI platforms, against adversarial attacks, prompt injection, and data leakage. Design, develop, and optimize AI and machine learning algorithms to enhance threat detection, prediction, and prevention capabilities. Mentor junior engineers, act as a technical resource, and serve as an internal AI/ML security thought leader. Stay current with emerging generative AI security threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation techniques. Drive research and innovation in defensive AI technologies. Establish and enforce policies and best practices for the secure and ethical use of AI. Conduct audits to ensure compliance security standards. Conducts software and systems engineering and software systems research to develop and employ new capabilities, ensuring security is fully integrated. Plans, tests, implements, maintains, administers, and recovers supported tools or services. Conducts comprehensive technology research to evaluate potential vulnerabilities in systems. Designs, develops, tests, and evaluates information system security throughout the systems development life cycle. Conducts risk assessments and provides recommendations for application configuration. Responsible for a wide range of security knowledge including architectures, firewalls, electronic data traffic, and network access. Uses encryption technology, penetration and vulnerability analysis of various security technologies, and information technology security research. Involved in the design and development of new systems, applications, and solutions for external customers' enterprise-wide cyber systems and networks. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Integrates new application security features into existing infrastructures, designs cybersecurity architectural artifacts, provides architectural analysis and relates existing system to future needs and trends, embeds advanced forensic tools and techniques for attack reconstruction, provides engineering recommendations, and resolves integration/testing issues. Builds and maintains trusted relationships with customers. Coaches and provides guidance to less-experienced professionals. May serve as a team or task lead.

  • Education: Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science
  • Experience: 8+ years of related experience
  • Certification qualifying for IAT Level II or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
  • Proficiency in CrowdStrike, Qualys, Splunk/SOAR, AI, and machine learning in cybersecurity
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and teamwork abilities
  • Deep understanding of AI/ML concepts, machine learning models, and adversarial attacks.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Go, or Java.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud security across major platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), including container security and secure DevOps practices.
  • Hands-on experience with AI/ML frameworks
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with a keen ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain complex AI concepts and security risks to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Vulnerability & Compliance Management experience (Qualys experience preferred)
  • Endpoint Detection and Response experience (CrowdStrike experience preferred)
  • SIEM experience (Splunk)
  • SOAR experience
  • Experience developing documentation for engineering requirements and architectural designs and diagrams
  • Preferred Security Clearance Level: Ability to Obtain a Top Secret Clearance is preferred
