About The Position

The Agronomy Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing agronomy operations within their assigned branches. The role requires a strong understanding of plant science, soil management, and pest control methodologies. It demands effective leadership of the agronomy team, landscape maintenance practices, and ability to develop and implement agronomic programs. Lead efforts in recruiting, hiring, and onboarding new employees. Foster a culture of continuous learning by providing training and development opportunities to enhance team skills and performance. Effectively manage employee performance by clearly communicating expectations, providing regular and constructive feedback, and addressing both positive contributions and areas for improvement. Foster a culture of accountability and continuous growth. Promote a positive and inclusive work environment by actively recognizing achievements, addressing employee concerns promptly, and using approaches to maintain high levels of employee satisfaction and retention. Assist Talent Acquisition team with onboarding activities associated with new employees; including but not limited to, completing Form I-9 accurately and timely, providing new employees with their applicable training plan, and providing any applicable documents to HR. Develop, implement, and manage landscape agronomy plans for the assigned branches including schedules, equipment, materials, and subcontractors. Develop and implement integrated pest management plans tailored to various landscapes including turf, ornamentals, trees, and palms. Assist Learning & Development in developing and conducting training programs on identification, control methods, safety protocols, and proper safe handling of pesticides. Conduct regular site inspections to monitor and identify agronomic issues, including pests, fungus, and diseases. Assess damage, gather and analyze data, propose solutions, and communicate findings with key stakeholders and clients. Maintain accurate records of pesticide usage, safety data sheets, and regulatory compliance documents. Perform regular audits to ensure all Agronomy Techs have a valid pesticide applicator license. . Support the Branch Manager with agronomic operations, including but not limited to budget development, cost analysis, product selection, and solutions to ensure the branch's financial and operational success. Stay updated on the latest pest control technologies and environmentally conscious products. Follow, promote, and enforce all labor laws, safety policies, practices, and procedures to ensure safe working conditions and behaviors are maintained. Assist with safety investigations and safety hazards and/or incidents. Perform other relevant duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in landscape management, horticulture, sports turf management, or a related field preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in agronomy, sports turf management, or related field.
  • 2 years of leadership or management experience strongly preferred.
  • Green Industries Best Management Practices (GI-BMP) Certification required.
  • CPCO (Certified Pest Control Operator) certification required.
  • In-depth knowledge of equipment, tools, and machinery needed for agronomy operations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively share information across teams and stakeholders.
  • Proficient in computer and technology skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, and mobile devices.
  • Must possess a valid US driver’s license (or equivalent) and meet Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) verification requirements.
