About The Position

Agronomy Intern: Golf Course Management Program Location: Horseshoe Bay Resort | Marble Falls, TX Reports To: Agronomist & Director of Agronomy The Opportunity: Master the Turf Step onto the greens of a premier AAA Four Diamond destination and learn what it takes to maintain championship-level golf courses. This isn't just a summer job; it’s a 13–14 week deep dive into the science and artistry of Agronomy. As an Agronomy Intern , you will work directly with our lead Agronomists to manage everything from soil health and irrigation to the high-level administrative side of resort operations. The 14-Week Roadmap Our program is structured to give you total exposure to course management. Note: Schedule may shift based on weather and course needs. Phase Focus Area Key Skills Week 1 Orientation Resort culture, safety standards, and team intros. Week 2 Bunkers Raking, edging, Fly-Mo, and sand distribution. Weeks 3-4 Course Prep & Mowing Hole locations, tee markers, and precision mowing (Greens, Fairways, Roughs). Week 5 Special Projects Tree work, drainage installation, and sodding. Weeks 6-7 Cultural Practices Aerification, verticutting, top-dressing, and spiking. Weeks 8-9 Irrigation System repair, scheduling, and pump station operation. Week 10-11 Calibration & App Spraying and granular applications (Pesticides/Fertilizers). Week 12 Service Center Reel maintenance, PM schedules, and inventory management. Week 13 Administration POs, invoicing, time edits, and budget planning.

Requirements

  • Education: Currently enrolled in college-level coursework in Agronomy, Turfgrass Management, or a related field.
  • Licensing: Valid Driver’s License required (21+ to drive resort vehicles). Must be able to obtain a state Pesticide Applicator License.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work on your feet for extended periods, and navigate stairs/slopes in various weather conditions.
  • Mindset: A high degree of problem-solving ability, professional appearance, and a "team-first" attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Championship Maintenance: Implement daily schedules to keep our courses in peak "tournament-ready" condition.
  • Precision Application: Calibrate spreaders and sprayers; apply fertilizers and pesticides while maintaining meticulous records.
  • Systems Management: Operate advanced irrigation tech, including Toro Lynx and Flowtronics pump stations.
  • Leadership: Step up to lead small crews on specialized projects, honing your management style.
  • Big Picture Strategy: Gain insight into our Turf & Landscape Management Plans, Environmental Programs, and Capital Budgets.
