About The Position

The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has an exciting opportunity within our Southeast Region as an Agriculture Land Manager, Natural Resource Specialist 3 (NRS3). This position is the senior-level professional for independently managing assigned state-owned agricultural uplands within the SE Region. Managing agricultural uplands includes negotiating and preparing agricultural land use authorizations, including valuation and completed appraisal reviews, ensuring compliance, reviewing completed surveys, performing site inspections, and resolving unauthorized uses. By doing this, this position is ensuring positive revenue generation for the State Trust.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in natural resource management, agriculture, real estate, forestry, science, engineering, land use or environmental planning, business or other relevant field; AND two years of related professional work experience in one of the specialties; OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Experience with contracts, business, or property management.
  • Experience interpreting and implementing guidelines, regulations, and laws.
  • Experience managing multiple complex tasks, setting workload priorities, and completing tasks on time.
  • Team collaboration: working collaboratively on internal and external issues in a respectful, cooperative, and professional manner.
  • Ability to speak and write clearly.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Commitment to fostering and supporting an environment that honors diversity, equity, inclusion, and environmental justice practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and understanding of land use authorizations (leases, easements, licenses, etc.) and other legal instruments associated with land management.
  • Knowledge of environmental permitting/regulatory processes and rules.
  • Experience using business management software and/or GIS.
  • Experience with site analysis and/or sampling programs.
  • Experience working on public access, recreation, or parks issues.
  • Experience operating on-and-off-road vehicles.

Responsibilities
