Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years of related experience in agricultural production and supervision.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of enterprises and operations included at the Agriculture Center or similar facilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

  • M.S. degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • In consultation with faculty enterprise leaders, supervise operation and maintenance of all facilities and land resources associated with the Tarleton Agriculture Center.
  • Responsible for all purchases and expenditures associated with the Agriculture Center facilities.
  • Coordinates needed repairs, maintenance, and alterations of all Agriculture Center, associated facilities, and equipment.
  • Coordinate and assist in preparation of Agriculture Center livestock and facilities for judging contests, workshops, special courses, and other events.
  • Attends and participates in training, seminars and workshops on personnel management, affirmative action, performance evaluation, and other job-related matters as appropriate.
  • In consultation with the Dean of the College, recommends merit increases and promotions, disciplinary actions, and other personnel actions of Agriculture Center workers.
  • In consultation with the Dean of the College, manages the mandated assessment duties for the Agriculture Center and enters results into software package.
  • Maintains an up-to-date accounting system by enterprise, including monthly and annual inventories and accounting records of all Agriculture Center enterprises and equipment.
  • Stores animal use protocols and records required for all Agricultural Center animals for University and System compliance.
  • Maintain work schedules, annual and holiday leaves, and other matters to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Cooperates with faculty to provide and coordinate Agriculture Center resources for teaching and research activities, including scheduled laboratory sections and field exercises.
  • Participates in staff meetings and other departmental affairs.
  • Hires, assigns and supervises student workers.
  • Collects and processes all time sheets for full-time and student workers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
