The Department employs approximately 2,000 employees. The Mountain Research Station is hiring an Agricultural Technician II with growth potential for a fulfilling career in agriculture. Our mission is to serve as a platform for agricultural research to make farming more efficient, productive, and profitable, while maintaining a sound environment and providing consumers with safe and affordable products. Our ideal candidate will have experience in horticultural crop production to include tomatoes, cucurbits, truffles, raspberry, blackberry and tobacco (burley and dark). This position will work in the Horticultural Unit and support animal agricultural production as seasonal demands may require. Major functions of this position are: • Routine tasks such as assisting with land preparation, planting, cultivating and harvesting various crops. • Landscaping task such as weeding and mowing. • Operation and basic maintenance of farm equipment. • Work may include other duties as assigned.
