About The Position

Come work with the Department of Agriculture where we continue to make Kentucky Proud! We are looking for an Agricultural Regulatory Specialist I in the Office for Consumer and Environmental Protection, Food Distribution Division, Field Review Branch. Duties will include: Learns to perform regulatory inspections at School Board Offices ensuring United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) contracts and documents are current in order to receive USDA Foods. Ensures food entitlement reports are accurate for accepting USDA Foods. With guidance, performs inspections of USDA Foods stored in School kitchens, including proper receipting and storing procedures, storage temperatures and insect prevention. Checks Health Inspection reports, temperature logs and receiving invoices and investigates any irregularities noted. With training, provides assistance to Food Service Directors in ordering USDA Foods, food delivery problems and filing complaints for damaged foods. Assists with tracking USDA entitlement funds to ensure school district's stay within budget. Schedules regulatory reviews with Food Service Directors and investigates any discrepancies with initial assistance from supervisor. Completes Board Office and School review reports, detailing findings and follow-up directions to Food Service Director. Assists other staff with conducting Technical Assistance Training for School Districts as requested or needed. Assists Food Service Director with all aspects of the Food Distribution Program. These include the division's website navigation, finding documents, applying for additional programs such as the Fresh Fruits and Vegetables, Farm-to-School and Processing USDA Foods programs. Learns from and then assists other division staff with year-end Distributor and Warehouse reviews. Submits Work Schedules, Timesheets, Work Summaries and Vehicle Mileage Reports monthly to Supervisor. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements

  • EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
  • EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: NONE
  • Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
  • Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in agriculture, inspection, quality control, regulatory, chemical application or application or inspection of pesticides or restricted chemicals, or a related field will substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.
  • SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification.
  • Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.
