About The Position

Northland Community & Technical College (NCTC) seeks a visionary and student-centered Agribusiness Instructor who is enthusiastic about shaping the next generation of agricultural leaders. This full-time, unlimited position is ideal for an educator who is energized by hands-on, experiential learning and committed to reimagining how agriculture is taught in a rapidly evolving industry. The ideal candidate will embrace creative approaches to curriculum and instruction, draw connections across disciplines, and bring a genuine passion for helping students develop the skills, confidence, and curiosity needed to thrive in agriculture and related fields. As a member of a collaborative AFNR department and a vibrant college community, the instructor will play a key role in enhancing current programs and exploring forward thinking possibilities-ensuring NCTC remains on the cutting edge of agricultural education. The successful candidate will deliver instruction across General Agriculture, Animal Science, Food Systems, and foundational AFNR curriculum, integrating innovative teaching methods, field-based learning, and technology-rich experiences that reflect modern ag practices such as sustainability, livestock systems, agribusiness, and companion animals. In addition to teaching, this faculty role includes significant involvement in curriculum development, assessment, and program improvement. The instructor will have opportunities to strengthen existing stackable credentials-from the General Agriculture Certificate to the Animal Science Diploma and AAS and contribute to the exploration of new programming aligned with workforce trends and community needs. This includes integrating interdisciplinary content, strengthening industry partnerships, and utilizing creative instructional approaches that support diverse learning styles and backgrounds.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in agriculture, agriculture education business, finance, economics or marketing.
  • Four full-time (or equivalent) years of verified related paid work experience in agribusiness.
  • One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.

  • Faculty shall have a degree in education or three years of successful full-time (or equivalent) teaching experience prior to being hired, or shall be required to complete coursework in the above content areas (or their equivalent) prior to being granted unlimited status.
  • These courses shall be waived for individuals who at the time of hire have: a degree in education, or have documented evidence of successful completion of equivalent coursework in the specified teaching and learning content areas, or have three years of successful, full-time (or equivalent) secondary, postsecondary, industry, or trade apprenticeship teaching experience in the field for which they are being hired.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, Agricultural Education, Agribusiness, or a closely related discipline.
  • Teaching experience at the postsecondary or secondary level, with demonstrated success using active, hands-on, and student-centered instructional methods.
  • Industry experience in agriculture, livestock production, food systems, environmental science, or related AFNR areas.
  • Experience developing curriculum, assessments, or educational pathways-especially innovative, interdisciplinary, or experiential-learning programs.
  • Knowledge of emerging agricultural technologies, such as precision agriculture, data analytics, animal systems technology, sustainable production practices, or ag-related innovations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing equity, inclusion, intercultural competence, and support for diverse learners.
  • Experience mentoring, advising, or supporting students inside and outside the classroom, including engagement with student organizations.
  • Background in developing partnerships with K-12 schools, industry partners, community organizations, or workforce development entities.
  • Comfort teaching in multiple modalities (face-to-face, hybrid, online) and using digital tools to enhance learning.
  • Experience working with rural communities and/or underrepresented populations in agriculture or education.
  • Ability to contribute to program growth, recruitment, outreach, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills with the ability to thrive in a creative, team based academic environment
